LOVE BEADS FROM ELVIS: The Diary of Kathy Tatum
by Kathy Tatum, with Mark Baker
6" x 9", 152 pages $11.95
Kathy Tatum goes to Graceland like all the kids of her era, hoping for a glimpse of "The King." One of these times, with teens waving and shouting at whomever might emerge from the mansion, Kathy is chosen to go up to the house. This is only the beginning of a flirty love affair between a teen and her idol.
The author presents her tale direct from her diary kept during those times. This makes it extra fun to read because we all revert back to fifteen-sixteen as we walk in her footsteps, trying to go to school, trying to be normal, all the while, waiting for your next date with Elvis.
An instant best seller on Amazon, I'm sure anyone who reads Elvis-related material will enjoy this peek into one of his snuggly pals.
REVIEWERS NOTE: When searching for Elvis's girlfriends, I found that dozens of women have spent time with the King during his reign and they got very graphic in nature describing the love affairs. This book is written with innocence and tenderness. It is a safe, clean read that touches on the heavier petting, but is never vulgar or graphic. It really does read like she wrote it in her teens.
